He is a former secretary of the Riddell District Football League, and has had a long involvement in football.

A former editor of the Regional News Gazette in the Sunbury-Gisborne-Melton district, he also conducted several Toyworld and Kwik Kopy Printing franchises.

He established and was editor/publisher of the award-winning Surf Coast Times newspaper in Torquay in 2001.

He is a former player at Essendon Under 19, VFA club Yarraville and Sunbury football clubs before a stint of umpiring and then football league administration.
